Federal Solutions Engineer - Java (50% remote) - TS/SCI clearance - to 140K
Our client is a global software product firm specializing in Text Analytics, Natural Language Processing, and Human Language Technology. They have a growing footprint in the Intelligence, Defense, and Law Enforcement communities. Our client's products transform unstructured text, in a large number of languages, into actionable intelligence.
They are seeking a Federal Solutions Engineer to help their customers be more successful with their products. This is a firm role, immediately available, and is NOT dependent on contract funding.
As a Federal Solutions Engineer, you will be heavily involved with both current and potential customers, analyzing their requirements and proposing solutions involving capabilities of our client's products, including entity extraction and resolution and sentiment analysis. You'll adapt their text analytics suite to meet the objectives of customer missions. The work itself will involve a combination of data analysis, consulting, software development, product integration, and a small amount of issue resolution. You'll work with a variety of stakeholders including customer leadership, analysts, and IT/IS staff. You'll never do the same thing over and over again - this work stays interesting!
In addition to a strong base salary, compensation includes a bonus plan, 401K with match, strong PTO, a full suite of medical benefits, tuition/learning assistance, and other perks. Plus, being a product firm and not being dependent on contract funding, this company provides more stability and real career advancement options than services firms.
To be considered for this role, you will need the following:
- US citizenship and a TS clearance (TS/SCI is better, and eventually required, but TS to start is acceptable)
- 2+ years of experience in Java development
- Strong "technical chops": you need to be a good engineer who learns new things all the time and can think through problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-focused consulting mindset
The following background is useful, but it you don't have it, our client will train you on the relevant topics and technologies:
- natural language processing (NLP)
- data science
- information retrieval and search
- computational linguistics
You should expect to split time between the Reston / Herndon area office, customer sites in Northern VA, and working from home (if you like, up to 50%). Travel to customer sites usually consists of a few meetings each week, with an occasional week having 2-3 days on a customer site. You'll also get to go to some conferences each year. Supporting multiple customers and not getting tied into a long-term on-site deployment is the norm. Working remote is common when you don't need to be in the office or at a client site. The team makes strong use of Google hangouts and other collaboration tools to minimize any unnecessary commuting, and they have team lunches so everyone gets to see each other frequently.
