About Our Client
Our client is a certified woman-owned small business established in 2015 in Columbia, MD. They specialize in cybersecurity operations and engineering, software development, data science and analytic development, security engineering, risk management, and cloud migration. The Role
We're seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to contribute significantly to the development of custom software components and the integration of open-source code, addressing complex time series analysis problems using cutting-edge Big Data/Cloud technology (AWS). The ideal candidate is a strong systems integrator with a passion for enhancing, optimizing, and increasing the robustness of existing codebases. You will design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software, from prototype to operational applications. A DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification (like Security+) is required, and a current TS/SCI is required for consideration. The salary range for this role is $175K-$205k, with a full benefits package.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of platform engineering or software development experience using Python or Java (Master's degree and 3+ years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience without a degree).
Proven experience developing infrastructure within AWS.
Strong grasp of Linux systems, including hosts, networks, security principles, and applications.
Proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
**Candidates must possess a qualifying DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification (e.g., SSCP, Security+, CCNA-Security, or GSEC) and a baseline certification (e.g., ACAS, AWS, Kubernetes) for consideration**
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with or knowledge of DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (such as Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR).
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (or a vendor-specific Kubernetes distribution).
Experience implementing and utilizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab-CI, Travis-CI).
Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and standard software development tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab).
Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible), build automation (Maven), and virtualization technologies (oVirt, Proxmox, VMware).
Clearance Requirements
A current TS/SCI U.S. Government Security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship required.
Location
Hybrid schedule in Columbia, MD (1-2 days per week on-site).
